STORRS, Conn. -- Connecticut freshman Sadie Edwards has decided to transfer.
Coach Geno Auriemma says the guard came to him seeking more playing time, and they came to a "mutual agreement that this can best be accomplished at a different school."
Edwards, a Meriden native, has played in six of seven games this season for No. 2 UConn (6-1), averaging just 4.8 minutes.
Auriemma says Edwards will complete her final exams this week prior to finalizing her transfer.
Edwards was part of a celebrated recruiting class for the defending national champions that also included guards Kia Nurse and Gabby Williams.
Auriemma announced the transfer on Tuesday.
