Missouri Week 8 POWERADE baseball rankings: Liberty back on top

When it comes to the regular season, Liberty stands as the champion after turning a 4-0 week into another Suburban Big Six Conference crown, a district tournament win against Platte County and the No. 45 spot in the POWERADE FAB 50 rankings.

Meanwhile previous No. 1 Francis Howell Central saw its season come to an abrupt end after falling to eighth-seeded St. Charles West in the Class 4 District 8 tournament. So is the fun and fate of the postseason.

Here are this week's rankings (last week's rankings in parentheses):

1. Liberty 23-3 (2)

Bluejays re-emerge as top team after earning its fourth straight Suburban Big Six Conference crown and beating Platte County to open district tournament play.

2. Vianney (Kirkwood) 22-6 (3)

Golden Griffins have won three straight and face Rockwood Summit in district tournament play on Tuesday.

3. Lee's Summit West 22-5 (4)

Winners of seven straight, top-seeded Titans are the host team for the Class 4 District 14 tournament.
