All-Star Game lines, matchups are out of fantasy heaven

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Let's take a look at our All-Star teams for Sunday's no-hitter of a game:

TEAM FOLIGNO

(coached by Darryl Sutter)

Nick Foligno of the host Columbus Blue Jackets was helped in his drafting Friday night by Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks and Drew Doughty of the Los Angeles Kings -- oh, and whatever they had in their drinking cups. Of that, there is no doubt.

Of interest to me is that this team has four right-handed blueliners in Doughty, Dustin Byfuglien of the Winnipeg Jets, Brent Burns of the San Jose Sharks and Kevin Shattenkirk of the St. Louis Blues, so someone is going to be playing on his wrong side Sunday.

Then again, Byfuglien and Burns have played both forward and defense over the past few years, so perhaps they will just be rovers since it's the no-defense All-Star Game.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson of the Arizona Coyotes rounds out the defensemen.

There are some serious shooters on this team, so Sutter's job will be to find the right playmakers to match up with them.

I would put Steven Stamkos at center on the top line between Alex Ovechkin and Kane. Hello!

Then I'd have Claude Giroux between Bobby Ryan and Phil Kessel, asking either winger to play the left side.

I like the wonderfully talented Anze Kopitar between Radim Vrbata and Zemgus Girgensons -- an all-Euro line.

That would leave Ryan Johansen to play with Jackets teammate Foligno. Throw another center, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of the Edmonton Oilers, on there as well.

They have six natural centers on this roster, so two of them will have to play out of position.

In goal, Team Foligno has Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens, Marc-Andre Fleury of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Brian Elliott of the St. Louis Blues.

TEAM TOEWS

(coached by Peter Laviolette)

First of all, they hands down won the trade of the night in getting Tyler Seguin of the Dallas Stars for Kessel of the Toronto Maple Leafs. History repeating itself, right?

What I love the most about Team Toews is Ryan Suter and Shea Weber being reunited. It will be old times from their Nashville Predators days for those two.

Here's how I would put their lines together:

I'd have Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews between the New York Rangers' Rick Nash (they played together on a line with Team Canada) and Vladimir Tarasenko of the Blues.

Then I'd have John Tavares of the New York Islanders between Seguin and the Predators' Filip Forsberg. There are six centers on this roster, so someone has to play out of position, and I think Seguin on the off-wing would rock in an All-Star Game.

Jakub Voracek of the Philadelphia Flyers might feel lost without Giroux at his side, but let's give him a chance with Ryan Getzlaf of the Anaheim Ducks and Tyler Johnson of the Tampa Bay Lightning, the latter playing out of position on the wing.

That leaves the old goats Patrice Bergeron of the Boston Bruins and Patrik Elias of the New Jersey Devils to play together on a unit that will need a rotating forward since there are only 11 forwards on this team.

And I've got a prediction for everyone: Tarasenko puts on a show and wins All-Star Game MVP on Sunday.

On the blue line, Team Toews has the Blackhawks' Brent Seabrook, Florida Panthers rookie sensation Aaron Ekblad, leading scorer among defensemen Mark Giordano of the Calgary Flames and Justin Faulk of the Carolina Hurricanes.

In goal, Team Toews has Corey Crawford of the Blackhawks, Roberto Luongo of the Panthers and Jaroslav Halak of the Islanders.
