Starting 5: International relations

It wasn't planned, but this week's "Starting 5" has an international bent with two Australians and a Canadian as the focus. Each recently made waves, but for three different reasons in three separate classes.

Editor's note: Every Monday in "Starting 5," we'll roll out five stories, themes and nuggets from the basketball recruiting world to tip off your week in proper form. We'll set the table with the stories that need to be told and give you a leg up on the water cooler conversations around the office.

1. Wiggins makes statement in TV game

Two weekends ago, No. 2 senior prospect Jabari Parker (Chicago/Simeon) was tremendous in a one-sided loss to No. 1 Montverde Academy (Fla.) on ESPN2. This past weekend, it was No. 1 recruit Andrew Wiggins (Thornhill, Ontario/Huntington Prep) who had the chance to make a statement on national TV.

After Wiggins scored 28 points on 10-for-14 shooting from the field and 8-for-8 shooting from the line in a 70-49 win over Cape Henry (Va.) on ESPN, consider the rest of the Class of 2013 on notice -- as if they weren't already.
