LAKEWOOD, Calif. -- Toa Lobendahn considered many factors when he made his college choice nearly two months ago. A combination of academics, football tradition and coaching helped the standout 2014 offensive lineman settle on nearby USC.
A strong bond with his late grandfather, though, proved to be an equally important component.
"He showed me a lot in my life," said Lobendahn, whose grandfather passed away last summer before the start of his sophomore season. "He always loved USC and I liked them, too."
