5.28pm: Well, we've had our first act of Multan II: The Slowening. Pretty even contest, but no doubt about the star turn: Kamran Ghulam scoring an immaculate hundred on debut. His efforts held the Pakistan innings together after Jack Leach struck twice early on; England then had to get funky with reverse swing and fielders in front of square, but they'll be pleased to have knocked over half the side. Saim Ayub, who made a Test-best 77, spoke to the host broadcaster at the close: "Conditions] Slow and turning, double-paced for the fast bowlers and balls keeping low. Difficult batting on a surface like that. [Would have liked to convert?] Yeah, even if I get 100 or 150 it's never enough. Just try to do the best I can do. [Partnership with Ghulam] Our plan was to play according to the conditions. It was spinning and keeping low, ultra focus was required to give the team a good partnership."
