Wayamba have won this comfortably, but they're out of the competition. It was fairly clear as we were approaching the death overs that Victoria were eyeing 84. Still, one would have expected them to chase down a modest score of 119, despite the difficult conditions. They had all the right men to do it for them, but they were happy settling down for a qualification.
Wayamba would have wanted much more than what they got. At 69 for 1 in the 12th over, they should have got to around 130-odd, or perhaps more, which would have made it that much more difficult for the Victorians to make it through. Vandort and Kulatunga were set, and stepped it up a little too late. Also, it meant a senior batsman like Mahela didn't have much to face and had to force the pace fairly early into his innings. We'll get you the presentation details in a bit.
Shane Harwood is Man of the Match for his economical three-for
Harwood: "A little disappointed for not getting the win. With the wicket not bouncing too much, I was pretty aggressive. Looking forward to go to a different venue with a bit more bounce."
White: "We were not up to the mark with our fielding, there are a couple of areas we need to work on. We wanted to win this game, we were trying it all the way along. But we're happy to make it through. The wicket down in Bangalore will suit us a little more."
Mubarak: "Mixed feelings for me. Disappointed we'll have to leave but the guys will take a lot from this win. The set up is fantastic and in a short tournament like this you need a headstart. We were a little slow to get off the blocks and i Twenty20 you can't play catch-up cricket."
That's all we have for this game. Not the most exciting of the tournament, but it's ensured Victoria go through. Sussex take on Eagles in a short while, so stay tuned for that. Until then, it's Sid Talya signing off.
Wayamba have won this
17 off 3
20 needed off 5. I don't see it happening
Last over coming up. 20 needed, Welegedera comes on. He's been good.
