While two pivotal playoff games were coming down to the wire, the collective sports world kept an eager eye on the Scripps National Spelling Bee, where Jairam Hathwar and Nihar Janga were declared co-champions.
The excitement started when the two went back-and-forth in the championship round with Janga missing out on a pair of opportunities to take the title.
This spelling bee is fire.

In the end, Janga, who is from Texas, spelled "gesellschaft" correctly and celebrated the tie by throwing up the "X," the celebration of Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant.
This caught Bryant's eye.
