WWE has announced it will be bringing its Money In The Bank event to London's O2 Arena this July.

The announcement is significant given it will be WWE's first pay-per-view event in London in over two decades.

The Money In The Bank format is known especially well for the staple ladder match to claim a guaranteed championship match at any time of the winners choosing in the following year.

"The O2 is one of the world's premier venues and the perfect home for Money In The Bank. We are excited to bring one of our 'Big 5' events to the UK and look forward to welcoming the WWE Universe to London on July 1," Dan Ventrelle, EVP, Talent at WWE, said.

"We are honoured to be hosting the first ever Money In The Bank event taking place in the UK here at The O2," Christian D'Acuña, Senior Programming Director at The O2, said.

"We're looking forward to welcoming back WWE fans to The O2 this summer for an unforgettable night with some of WWE's biggest Superstars."

It follows on from the resounding success of Clash at the Castle last September held in Wales, which drew 62,296 fans to the Principality Stadium in Wales.

Clash at the Castle was WWE's first stadium show in the UK since SummerSlam in 1992, with the Wales based event breaking various records including becoming the most-watched international premium live event in WWE history, the largest European gate ever.

It also shattered merchandise records, becoming the best-selling for a non-WrestleMania event.

WWE have already announced they will be heading to the UK at the end of April in 2023 with dates in both Birmingham and Manchester confirmed.
