Next Gen Matchup Advantage: Week 8 NFL mismatches to exploit

Tyler Boyd of the Cincinnati Bengals could see some open looks on Monday night. Katie Stratman-USA TODAY Sports

Two weeks ago the top 10 players in Overall Score from our Receiver Tracking Metrics featured mostly a collection of stars. But two other names stood out: David Njoku, who we'll get to in a minute, and Brandon Aiyuk. Since then Aiyuk's production has jumped: with at least seven receptions and 82 yards in each of the last two games.

So, let's try it again, shall we?

Welcome to Next Gen Advantage, where we dive deep into player tracking data from NFL Next Gen Stats and ESPN Analytics to try and find little edges for fantasy players.

This week we're starting with those aforementioned Receiver Tracking Metrics. For a refresher on the RTMs click here, but the general idea is we're trying to quantify receivers' abilities to get open, make catches and generate YAC using player tracking data. We'll dive into sack projections for Week 8 as well.

Receiver Tracking Metrics

If you like the RTMs we have good news! An interactive filled with every qualifiers' Open Score, Catch Score, YAC Score and Overall Score, from this season and years past, will be available soon on FiveThirtyEight.

Buy: Tyler Boyd, WR, Cincinnati Bengals

If we look at the top 10 receivers in Overall Score, Boyd stands out as the latest good-but-not-great receiver standing mostly among giants.
