Bournemouth's Callum Wilson to miss rest of Premier League season

Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson will miss the rest of the season after rupturing anterior cruciate ligaments in his left knee.

Wilson, 24, suffered the injury in training on Wednesday which is similar to one he suffered in September 2015 in his right knee.

That caused him to miss the majority of the Cherries' debut Premier League campaign although he did return to feature in six games between April and May.

Bournemouth reports they expect Wilson, who has scored six goals in 21 appearances this season, to miss six months this time.

"We are all devastated for Callum," Eddie Howe told the club's official website. "What's important now is that he receives the support and love of his family and friends, teammates and everyone associated with AFC Bournemouth.

"Callum showed incredible character and determination to come back from a similar set-back last season and we know he has the same strength and will to do the same again."
