It was an incredible match. A European night no football fan will soon forget.
Manchester City's 4-3 win over Tottenham saw the North London clubs advance to the Champions League semifinal on away goals, with the aggregate scoreline level at 4-4. Wednesday's clash at the Etihad had everything: early goals, lead changes, video review, overturned goals and of course, late drama.
Logically, social media was buzzing with hot takes. Take a look at some of the better fire opinions on the night.
- Ogden: Goals. VAR. Drama. The greatest UCL game ever?
- Player ratings: Laporte gets 3/10 as City dreams dashed
City's Twitter account couldn't contain its enthusiasm. Unfortunately, VAR would soon dampen that euphoria.

Wow. VAR 2 City 0.

That minute - Sterling's goal, the bedlam, the desolation, the pause, the hush, the bedlam, the desolation - is genuinely one of the most remarkable things I've ever seen.

Now telll me that VAR is not great. Imagine that goal deciding the tie.

VAR CONTROVERSY (getting all the decisions correct)

A heartbreaking result after all the hard work we've put in to get the qualification.. Really hard to accept but we can still be proud of what we showed, how you guys supported us and how our hearts beat as one for this club. #StandTall @ManCity pic.twitter.com/337Fb8PdQx

This game is fantastic. Thoughts at this time are with all those that don't like football.

Whatever happens we'll either have a club playing the UCL final for the first time ever or one that hasn't been there since before many of their players were born.

An amazing game and well done to Spurs . All your players must be really tired . Take a rest Saturday !

Pochettino just beat the most visionary coach & one of the two richest clubs in the world over 180 minutes.

He didn't even have his captain & perhaps the world's best centre-forward for 3/4s of the tie.
Don't tell me he needs to win a trophy.
Don't care how you slice it but there will always be an * when talking about what @ManCity have achieved under Pep....no #UCL trophies with that amount of money spent has to be deemed a "failure". #MCFC

Nothing Spursy from Spurs this time. Fantastic night for the club. Polished from Liverpool , who could well upset Barcelona in semi.
