United States, Mexico get Nations League schedules for semifinal, final

CONCACAF released the schedule for the final two rounds of the inaugural edition of the Nations League.

The semifinals will be held in Houston on June 4, with the choice of venues reflecting the drawing power of the Mexico national team. The U.S. and Honduras will square off at BBVA Compass Stadium -- capacity 22,039 -- at 6:30 p.m. CST, while Mexico and Costa Rica will play at NRG Stadium, which has a capacity of 72,220, at 9:00 p.m. CST.

The final and third-place game will both be held three days later at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The third-place game will begin at 4:30 p.m. CST followed by the final at approximately 7:00 p.m.

"The CONCACAF Nations League group stages showcased outstanding football across our region and Houston and Dallas are ideal cities for hosting the first-ever Finals of this important international competition," said CONCACAF General Secretary Philippe Moggio.

"The combination of world class venues, passionate support, and diverse fanbases representing all four of the participating nations, ensure that these two cities are uniquely positioned to host a very successful inaugural event."

The semifinal matchups were decided based on the number of points that the teams accumulated during the group stage of the competition. Mexico, with 12 points, is the top seed, followed by Honduras (10 points), the U.S. (nine points) and Costa Rica (six points).

BBVA Stadium, home of the Houston Dynamo, has previously hosted international matches since its opening in 2012, including CONCACAF Champions League and Gold Cup clashes. NRG Stadium, home of the NFL's Houston Texans, has hosted five CONCACAF Gold Cups, as well as the Copa America Centenario in 2016.

AT&T Stadium, the 80,000-seat stadium home of the Dallas Cowboys, has also hosted top-level soccer competitions in the past, including four editions of the Gold Cup, numerous Mexican National Team U.S. Tour matches and international club events.
