Lyon beat Troyes as Alexandre Lacazette scores first Stade des Lumieres goal

Alexandre Lacazette scored the first ever goal at the Stade des Lumieres as Lyon beat luckless Troyes 4-1.

Les Gones were without a Ligue 1 win since November 2015 so there was much relief among the home contingent when Lacazette muscled his way into the area before dispatching an unstoppable effort into the bottom corner.

The hosts almost doubled their lead on the half-hour mark when Corentin Tolisso's delivery found Samuel Umtiti in front of goal, but the young defender's first-time effort ended up just the wrong side of the post.

Lyon continued to dominate into the second half, but Lacazette and Umtiti both fired agonsingly wide before Troyes shocked their hosts.

Florian Camus was allowed space outside the area and, after being picked out by Xavier Thiago, the former Genk midfielder fired an unstoppable 20-yard effort beyond Anthony Lopes.

Parity lasted a matter of minutes, though, as Lyon offered an instant response.

Christophe Jallet neatly found Rachid Ghezzal inside the area and, with the return pass the more likely option, the Algeria international turned before powering an effort into the bottom corner.

The points were all but wrapped up with 10 minutes left when Jordan Ferri sent a superb first-time effort into the top corner from 20 yards, leaving Paul Bernardoni soundly beaten.

There was still time left for Lyon to make matters worse for Ligue 1's bottom club as Claudio Beauvue got in on the act, nodding home at the back post from Ghezzal's corner to cap off a successful evening for the hosts.
