Fiorentina finished the Serie A season in fifth place after beating Lazio 4-2 on Miroslav Klose's curtain call at the Stadio Olimpico.
Briefly dislodged by surprise package Sassuolo, Fiorentina managed to reclaim their automatic Europa League berth thanks to a Matias Vecino brace and further strikes from Federico Bernardeschi and Cristian Tello.
Senad Lulic had given Lazio the early lead and the last goal of the evening was scored by German veteran Klose, whose second-half penalty was his last significant act in a Bianconeri shirt.
Victory would only have earned Lazio a share of sixth place with AC Milan and, despite the fact they opened the scoring, they did not seem especially motivated throughout.
Lulic gave the Bianconeri the upper hand after two minutes when Davide Astori's attempted headed clearance clattered off the Bosnian's feet and went in.
From that point forward Fiorentina took control and after a couple of near misses Vecino levelled the match in the 31st minute.
The Uruguayan midfielder opened his account for the season on the final day by blasting the ball beyond Federico Marchetti.
Such was Fiorentina's confidence they plundered two more goals before the break: first, Bernardeschi converted Tello's assist and then five minutes later, on the stroke of half-time, the latter turned Vecino's pass home.
Lazio pushed back to no avail when play resumed and in the 70th minute Fiorentina added goal number four, Vecino claiming his double by clipping Mati Fernandez's lay-off past Marchetti.
Four minutes later Lazio won a penalty and it was time for departing striker Klose, 37, to ensure he departed the Eternal City on a high note.
