Michael Kightly signs for Burnley

Promoted Burnley have made their first summer signing by bringing in winger Michael Kightly from Stoke after a successful year on loan at Turf Moor.

The former Wolves player has signed a three-year deal after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee and becomes Burnley's first summer signing.

Kightly, 28, scored five goals in 39 games for Burnley last season and was on target in the April win over Wigan when they clinched their return to the Premier League after a four-season absence.

He told Burnley's official website: "As soon as we secured promotion to the Premier League last season, I wanted to make sure that I signed."

Kightly was surplus to requirements at Stoke after Mark Hughes' appointment as manager.

Meanwhile, another winger, Junior Stanislas, is set to leave Burnley after rejecting their offer of a new contract. The 24-year-old joined the club from West Ham in 2011.
