Liverpool's Sheyi Ojo faces month out injured with back problem - source

Liverpool youngster Sheyi Ojo is set to miss around a month of action with a fracture in his back, a club source has told ESPN FC.

Ojo, 19, had a scan after complaining of pain in his back following the team's preseason tour to the United States.

The promising winger missed the Reds' final two summer friendlies with Barcelona and Mainz as he underwent treatment on Merseyside.

Due to the nature of the injury, Liverpool are unwilling to put a concrete timescale on Ojo's return, but they believe he will likely remain sidelined until mid-September.

The Liverpool Echo reports that the injury was caused by a heavy workload rather than one particular incident and Ojo now requires a period of rest.

The former MK Dons trainee had a busy 2015-16 season, which saw him feature for Wolves on loan, before being recalled by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. He then went on to make his senior debut for the Reds and 11 first-team appearances in total.

Ojo played for England at this summer's European Under-19 Championship in Germany and recently revealed he passed up the opportunity of a holiday after the tournament to join up with Liverpool's preseason tour to ensure he did not miss any crucial training time.
