Eibar 5-2 Almeria

A nightmare opening half an hour cost Almeria dear as their dreadful run of form continued with a crushing defeat by Eibar at the Ipurua.

Eibar have impressed in their first season in the Primera Division and this 5-2 victory sees them up to ninth, while Almeria are just outside of the relegation zone by goal difference.

Federico Piovaccari scored the opening goal after three minutes, Berjon Perez Saul doubled their lead after 21 minutes before a dream opening half hour was completed by Raul Albentosa's header.

Fernando Soriano grabbed a goal back minutes before the break to give Almeria some hope heading into the second half.

However that hope was extinguished after 57 minutes through Rodriguez Raul Navas' header before Ander Capa made it five.

Edgar Mendez pulled another one back for the visitors with 13 minutes remaining, but they were simply overpowered.

Eibar were chasing their first home win of the season and the Basque side made the perfect start when Piovaccari found some room inside the Almeria area before firing into the bottom right hand corner of the net.

Wellington Silva tried to reply for the visitors but his 20 yard effort was off-target, before home stopper Xabier Irureta held onto Angel Trujillo's header.

Almeria's mini spell of pressure was to end emphatically moments later though when Saul got on the end of Mikel Arruabarrena's pass from the left to fire past Martinez Ruben.

And two became three after 29 minutes Saul turned provider with his corner headed home by Albentosa from close range.

With the match slipping away, Almeria got a much needed fillip after 43 minutes when Angel Trujillo's header into the area was swept home by Soriano, who had come on as a sub after 34 minutes.

Soriano was certainly making an impact, but from near the penalty shot he failed to hit the target after 52 minutes.

And the game was over four minutes later and it was set pieces which once again proved Almeria's downfall.

Manu Del Moral's corner to the back post was not dealt with by the visitors and Navas headed home to put them out of sight.

The scoreline was becoming embarrassing for the visitors who found themselves 5-1 behind when Capa latched onto Fernandez Abraham's cross from the left to fire past Ruben after 74 minutes.

Almeria got one back through Mendez's converted from close range three minutes later, but it was little more than a consolation.
