Granada upset form book with win over Athletic Bilbao

Granada saw off Athletic Bilbao 2-0 to pick up their first win since August and move off the bottom of the Primera Division and out of the relegation zone.An own goal by Aymeric Laporte after just five minutes put the hosts on their way to victory and Isaac Success made sure of the points by scoring on the volley just before the hour mark, ending Athletic's five-game winning streak in all competitions.The Basques drop down to ninth place in the table, while Granada move up to 16th but are just one point clear of bottom side Malaga.Before this fixture Jose Ramon Sandoval's side had not managed to add to their solitary win at Getafe in the second week of the season, conceding late goals and dropping points against Sporting Gijon and Espanyol.But the hosts got off to the perfect start here, taking the lead as Laporte stuck out a leg to block Success' cross but sent the ball into his own net.They managed to contain Athletic for most of what remained of the first half but were grateful to goalkeeper Andres Fernandez and midfielder Ruben Perez for keeping out goalbound shots from Benat and Aritz Aduriz respectively.They also survived a storm of Athletic attacks early in the second period and then wrapped up the points due to another error from Laporte. The usually assured Frenchman lost possession and Granada saw their opportunity, Success lashing the ball into the far corner as Athletic tried in vain to clear the danger.
