Las Palmas 0-2 Eibar

Borja Baston scored for the fourth time in three Primera Division matches as Eibar defeated Las Palmas 2-0 at Estadio de Gran Canaria.

The visitors moved seventh in the table after ending a five-game winless streak, Saul Berjon getting the ball rolling in the seventh minute before Baston's wonderful second-half effort.

For struggling Las Palmas, this was a tame follow-up to their close 2-1 defeat by Barcelona last weekend.

Less than a minute had passed when Adrian Gonzalez signalled Eibar's attacking intent with an effort against the woodwork.

The opener was not long coming, Junca taking a touch on the left flank before whipping a teasing cross into the penalty area.

The ball evaded two defenders before falling perfectly for Berjon to tap home from six yards at the far post.

Juan Emmanuel Culio drew one save from Asier Riesgo just after the half-hour but the lead was never seriously threatened before half-time.

Wakaso Mubarak saw plenty of the ball as the second period got under way but his finishing proved too wayward to trouble Riesgo.

Baston had no such trouble when his chance came in the 62nd minute.

He was lurking on the shoulder of the last defender when a ball into the box looped up towards him.

Baston cushioned it delicately on his chest, swivelled his body and sent a volley into the bottom corner from 15 yards.

It was his last involvement before making way with the points seemingly safe.
