AC Milan drop five points behind Serie A leaders Inter with draw at Roma

AC Milan dropped five points behind Serie A leaders and rivals Inter Milan with a 1-1 draw at AS Roma on Sunday.

Koni De Winter opened the scoring for the away side shortly after the hour mark from a corner which temporarily put Milan right on the coattails of Inter.

It was not to last though, as Lorenzo Pellegrini's 74th minute penalty, following a handball from Milan defender Davide Bartesaghi, levelled the scores and saw Milan draw their third game in six and for the eighth time this season.

That saw them drop five points off their city rivals, who beat Pisa 6-2 on Friday night.

Milan have not lost in the league since their shock defeat to Cremonese in the opening match of the season in August but they have routinely failed to win games against lesser opponents, with draws against relegation threatened Fiorentina and bottom of the league Pisa of particular note.

The draw sees Roma leapfrog Napoli into third, after their 3-0 hammering away at Juventus. They sit nine points behind leaders Inter.
