Atlético Madrid saw their winning run halted at four games with a 1-1 LaLiga draw at Real Sociedad.

Alexander Sorloth headed Atletico ahead with his sixth goal of the season after 50 minutes, the Norway striker picked out with a peach of a cross from Giuliano Simeone.

But the lead lasted only five minutes as Takefusa Kubo set up Gonçalo Guedes for a fabulous finish that gave the impressive Jan Oblak no chance in the Atlético goal.

Sociedad carried the greater threat at Reale Arena as American coach Pellegrino Matarazzo took charge of the Basque club for the first time.

Mikel Oyarzabal went close and Oblak pushed away Brais Mendez's fine strike from 20 yards.

Atlético had won their previous four games and might have taken control but for two wayward Julián Álvarez attempts, the Argentina striker having gone without a league goal since Nov. 1.

Kubo set up Oyarzabal for a chance that was deflected wide, but Sociedad did have the ball in the net seconds before the interval.

Sorloth headed Carlos Soler's free kick into his own net, but Mendes was in an offside position and ruled to have affected the forward's attempted clearance at the near post.

The game burst into life at the start of the second half as Sorlorth struck at the right end from Atlético's perspective and substitute Conor Gallagher should have doubled the lead when clean through.

But the England international shot tamely wide and was instantly punished as Guedes took a touch from Kubo's slide-rule pass to smash home.

Both sides had chances to take all three points, the diving Oblak saving from Kubo and Antoine Griezmann sending a weak chip straight at Sociedad goalkeeper Álex Remiro.

Soler also nearly found a stoppage-time winner but his attempt curled just wide.
