Sporting Lisbon sign Netherlands international Bas Dost from Wolfsburg

Sporting Lisbon have agreed to sign Bas Dost from Wolfsburg for an undisclosed fee.

Dost, 27, leaves Germany after scoring 36 goals in 85 Bundesliga appearances to become the club's fifth top goal scorer in their 19-year top-flight history.

Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs told the club's official website: "We agreed to Bas Dost's transfer, because we were happy with the economic conditions of the move to Sporting.

"It wasn't an easy decision for us to make, as we had initially wanted to extend his contract until 2017, but we were unable to agree on terms. Bas Dost was a guarantor for success, with the goals he scored in his four season here, but he also had a lot of misfortune with serious injuries.

"We wish Bas all the best for his future in Lisbon. We are grateful to him for what he achieved here."

Wolfsburg have signed Germany international striker Mario Gomez and taken Real Madrid's Borja Mayoral on loan.
