Yoann Gourcuff's future is being "mapped out with a club," the out-of-contract France international's lawyer has told RMC.
Gourcuff, 29, has been without a club since the expiry of his contract at Lyon where he endured five injury-blighted seasons.
The ex-AC Milan midfielder has been working on his fitness since leaving OL while Montpellier and former clubs Rennes and Bordeaux reportedly monitor his situation.
Gourcuff's lawyer, Didier Poulmaire, acknowledged one unnamed club is leading the chase.
"Things are being mapped out with a club, but nothing is done yet," he said. "We haven't even talked about a contract, so I cannot tell you its name. But Yoann really wants it to happen."
Rennes, where Gourcuff started his professional career before joining Milan in 2006, are reportedly the club where the talented Breton-born playmaker hopes to resume his career.
"He holds all the cards," Rennes' head of communications said. "We're waiting for him to decide, just like the other clubs that have contacted him."
