Werder Bremen are in talks to sign Chelsea defender Papy Djilobodji on loan until the end of the season, the Bundesliga club's CEO Thomas Eichin has confirmed to Bild.
Djilobodji, 27, joined Chelsea from Nantes in September 2015, with sources telling ESPN FC that the Premier League champions paid around £2.7 million for the player.

But the centre-back, who can also play as a defensive midfielder, has been unable to break into the first-team plans of either former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho or his successor Guus Hiddink.
Djilobodji has failed to make a single league appearance this season, and Bremen's CEO Eichin confirmed his club's interest on Tuesday, telling Bild: "We are in negotiations."
Bild reports that Djilobodji is set to arrive in Germany on Wednesday, with Bremen expected to pay Chelsea a €400,000 loan fee for the defender.
The Senegal international had been at Nantes since 2009, helping them to promotion in 2013 and going on to make 59 appearances in Ligue 1.
Chelsea had been in the market for a new centre-back last summer, and turned to Djilobodji after failing in efforts to sign Everton's John Stones and Zenit St Petersburg's Ezequiel Garay.
