Ashley Fletcher joins West Ham after Man United deal expires

Ashley Fletcher has joined West Ham United, on a four-year deal, after his contract at Manchester United expired, the East London club have confirmed.

The 20-year-old striker was on loan at Barnsley during the second half of last season and scored nine goals, including one in the League One playoff final victory against Millwall at Wembley.

Fletcher told West Ham's website: "West Ham are a massive club and I am just happy that I can come and further my development here.

"West Ham are a club built on traditions of giving youngsters a run and hopefully I can get my chance as well."

The Yorkshire-born, England under-20 striker had come through Bolton Wanderers' academy before joining United.

He scored in the final three games of the 2014-15 season as United's under-21s clinched the title.
