Wolfsburg defender Dante set to leave Bundesliga for Ligue 1 club Nice

Wolfsburg defender Dante has confirmed he is on his way to French club Nice, once he passes a medical on Sunday.

The Brazil defender is set to link up once again with his former Borussia Monchengladbach coach Lucien Favre at the Ligue 1 club.

He was left out of the Wolves squad for their DFB-Pokal opener at FSV Frankfurt on Saturday and he confirmed to Sport1 television that he is about to complete his move to France.

"I wanted to join Nice because the challenge with the Europa League is really good," said the 32-year-old former Bayern Munich defender. "I have a great deal of respect for Lucien Favre. He helped me a lot during my time in Monchengladbach, while my wife also speaks French."

Dante is set to sign a three-year contract with Nice, only weeks after he had pledged his future to Wolfsburg.

"I still wanted to stay in Wolfsburg a fortnight ago and I was certain that I would play the season with them at that time, but then a completely different situation arose a short while after," Dante added.
