HUDDERSFIELD, England -- Pep Guardiola praised both teams' goalkeepers after Manchester City played out a 0-0 draw with Championship side Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup fifth round.
Claudio Bravo started his first game since being dropped for City's last three Premier League matches after a dip in form and he twice denied Rajiv van La Parra as well as tipping a Jack Payne free kick over the bar.
Guardiola was happy with the Chile international's performance and praised his footwork on a pitch that had been affected by Huddersfield Giants playing a rugby league match on it two days before.
"He was brilliant for the first save," the City boss told a news conference. "He was amazing at taking the decision with the pass in the buildup. He was really good. It's good for him and for everybody."
Huddersfield keeper Joel Coleman was the busier of the two but also remained unbeaten after making excellent saves in the first half to deny Nolito and Sergio Aguero.
The draw means the two sides will now meet again at the Etihad Stadium, with the game already confirmed for Feb. 28. It will also be the first time Guardiola has faced a replay throughout his career.
"The first half we had our chances. The goalkeeper was brilliant," Guardiola added. "The second half maybe we played a little bit better but we didn't create many chances.
"But it's a cup game and so many teams in the Premier League are out and we have another chance next Tuesday at home and we will try and quality.
"I expected the game we played. A big compliment to the team. I know how difficult it is -- the pitch after they played rugby and everything is a little bit slow in the process of the pass. They are so aggressive, they are so dynamic, they have a really good team, which is why they are where they are in the Championship. We will play the replay for the first time in my life and we will try and qualify."
Huddersfield made seven changes for the clash as they chase promotion to the Premier League and manager David Wagner was proud of his side's performance.
"If you ask me 'did we have some chances?' [then] yes, we had two or three -- one very good from Rajiv van La Parra -- but City had some very good opportunities as well and they were the better team," Wagner said.
"But we shouldn't be surprised. I am very proud and very happy the players stick in their identities. We try to play our game.
"Of course if we play one of the best teams in the world they will create some chances. We wanted to show we are one of the fittest teams in the competition and we are aggressive and brave enough, and all of this we have proved today."
