Atlanta United's Leandro Gonzalez Pirez has red card rescinded

Montreal 2-1 Atlanta: Impact win it late - Via MLS (1:58)

Montreal Impact beat Atlanta United for their first win of the season via a late, deflected goal by Anthony Jackson-Hamel. (1:58)

An independent panel has rescinded the red card given to Atlanta defender Leandro Gonzalez Pirez in Saturday's 2-1 loss to Montreal Impact after an appeal.

Pirez was sent off in first-half stoppage time for denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity to Matteo Mancosu in the Atlanta box.

The former Estudiantes man was fined and suspended for Atlanta's upcoming match against Real Salt Lake for the infraction, but has seen both lifted as a result of the panel's decision on Wednesday.

Pirez, 25, was signed from the Buenos Aires club for $2 million in January.

He has started in all six of Atlanta's matches this season, contributing one assist thus far.
