Iago Aspas wants Manchester City winger Nolito to return to Celta Vigo in the summer.
Nolito has three years remaining on his contract with City but is open to a return to Celta after limited playing time in the Premier League.
Aspas, on international duty with Spain, told Radio Galega: "I would bring Nolito back because we played together in the 2015-16 campaign and we had great results."
Nolito formed an effective partnership with Aspas in the Celta attack, scoring 12 goals in 27 league starts before moving to the Etihad stadium last summer.
But he has made only nine starts in the Premier League and a lack of playing time has seen him lose his place in the Spain team.
"At times you think of leaving in order to improve, and sometimes it goes well and other times it goes badly," Aspas said.
"There is a lot of competition to play in the national team and those who have a chance of making it are considering their options, whether to stay or to leave in order to play more."
Aspas also said he hoped the loan move of midfielder Jozabed Sanchez from Fulham could be made permanent.
Jozabed arrived in January and Celta, who hold an option to sign him for €5 million in the summer, are in negotiations with Fulham.
They do not want to pay that amount, but Aspas said: "He wants to stay and the rest of his teammates want him to stay because he is an exceptional guy.
"I gave the club my opinion, and that is that I want him to remain.
"His release clause has to be lowered because it's quite high but we hope that, as the transfer window continues, everything returns to its place and that we can made a good offer to get him back.
"It would be good to keep our main players."
