Brighton are in talks to sign Brazilian midfielder Renato Neto from Gent, sources close to the Premier League side have told ESPN FC.
A fee has been agreed and the Belgian club have given the player permission to travel to England for talks.
Neto was at Brighton's training ground on Friday for talks and a medical and he is expected to finalise a move to the Amex Stadium before the end of the weekend.
The 25-year-old came to the fore at Sporting Lisbon and spent five seasons with the club before moving to Belgium with Gent in 2014 after a successful spell on loan there the previous season.
He helped Gent win the Belgian title for the first time in their history in the 2014-15 season and he has experience of playing in the Champions League with both Sporting and Gent.
Neto is now set to become fourth new signing from abroad this summer following the arrivals of Maty Ryan from Valencia as well as Pascal Gross and Markus Suttner from Ingolstadt.
