ATK Mohun Bagan Pvt. Ltd. announced, in a press release on Friday, that their Board had "unanimously decided to retain the iconic green and maroon jersey which has been synonymous with the 131 years legacy of Mohun Bagan. The culture and tradition which has made the brand a household name has been preserved"

The newly formed entity also added that the "the sentiments of the largest sporting fan base in the country have been honoured in the logo," which has the addition of the words ATK to the existing Mohun Bagan logo.

This comes at a time when there was growing unrest within the traditional fan base, fearing that the logo/colours may be changed.

Sanjiv Goenka, owner of ATK Mohun Bagan, said "Mohun Bagan has been close to my heart since childhood. I have had the honour to watch the Green and Maroon play some of their best football."

ATKMB also announced that they would be building a football academy in West Bengal, and that investments will made to existing MB facility so that ISL and AFC home games are held there.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, who is a co-owner of ATKMB, said "Together the brand name ATK Mohun Bagan will create history."

ATK, who had announced the merger in January this year, won a record third ISL title this season beating Chennaiyin FC 3-1 in the final, Mohun Bagan, meanwhile, won the 2019-20 I-League with four rounds to spare before the tournament was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic -- their fifth national league title (NFL + I-league).

By virtue of this, the newly formed club, ATKMB, will compete in the AFC Cup group stage next season.
