Tigres winger Jurgen Damm warns others after fireworks accident

Mexico and Tigres winger Jurgen Damm, who will miss the start of Liga MX's 2018 Clausura after an accident involving fireworks, sent a message warning others to learn from his mistake.

Damm, who suffered injuries to his face, sent the message through Multimedios journalist Pello Maldonado on Tuesday with a photo of his injuries and a warning for people to be careful with fireworks.

"First of all I want to thank God because it really was a miracle that all this wasn't even worse. Hopefully, what has happened to me will help so we all learn that fireworks don't bring anything good in our lives," he said.

"Sadly, I've learned the hard way, but I honestly hope that this message serves so that you don't go through something like this. Thanks to everyone that has shown me their support."

Damm suffered first degree burns to the right side of his face, according to the club, and will be out for approximately two weeks.

Reigning champions Tigres kick off their 2018 Clausura campaign on Friday with a trip to Puebla, less than a month on from the side defeating local rival Monterrey to lift the 2017 Apertura.

Damm has been part of a historic Tigres side that has won three Liga MX titles since the winger joined in June 2015 and has periodically been linked with a move to Europe. The 25-year-old has been a regular in Juan Carlos Osorio's Mexico squads.
