When researching the field ahead of a fantasy golf event, it is important to understand player salaries and how they have changed in recent weeks. This is one of the best ways to spot a value pick or avoid a popular player whose price has simply risen too high.

The PGA Tour changes pace this weekend as it heads to Pebble Beach, California, for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. For this high-profile event, DraftKings has greeted us with a totally different, more challenging pricing structure. The field adds some of the top players in the world with the arrival of Jordan Spieth, Jason Day, Dustin Johnson, Jimmy Walker and Justin Rose. While there are still some very talented players in the middle price range, most of the bargains that were in the $6,000-7,000 range have seen a price hike this week.

During weeks like this, cash games become less profitable, as it becomes much more difficult to predict who will make and miss the cut outside of the elite players. Fantasy owners should reduce their bankroll exposure and focus more on GPP events to avoid the usual volatility that accompanies such an event.
