Experts' picks: Watch out for Watson to pull off Sunday double

To win the FedEx Cup -- and the $10 million bonus -- Bubba Watson can finish as low as a two-way tie for second at this week's Tour Championship. Anything worse and he'll come up short at East Lake. Patrick Smith/Getty Images

It's all over after this week at East Lake. The PGA Tour's 2014-15 wraparound season comes to a close with the Tour Championship, as does our weekly experts' picks. (At least until next season starts in three weeks.)

And without further adieu ...

Matt Barrie, SportsCenter anchor

Paul Casey: Here we are. The Tour Championship, and final tournament for the FedEx Cup. To be clear, my pick is Jason Day. But that's not our survivor format. To keep the ball inbounds, I'm taking Arizona State's Paul Casey. Casey sits 22nd right now and has put together a nice season. In 23 events this year, he's netted seven top-10s. He'll get another this week, at course he finished T-4 at in 2010.

Jonathan Coachman, SportsCenter anchor

Scott Piercy: I feel defeated today. Congratulations to Bob. I am going with someone who is off the radar but had a good week at the BMW Championship. Scott Piercy, please help "the coach" finish strong and with pride.

Michael Collins, ESPN.com senior golf analyst

Bubba Watson: He said it himself. Everything else that happened in the first three events didn't matter as long as you got to Atlanta in the top five of the FedEx Cup standings. Bubba did just that. He's fifth, meaning a win in Atlanta and he wins the cup, period. The stage is yours, Mr. Watson.

Bob Harig, ESPN.com senior golf writer

Rory McIlroy: After picking Jason Day too early (Masters), Rickie Fowler too early (Barclays) and Jordan Spieth too late (Deutsche Bank), it's finally time to take the other member of the new Big 4: Rory McIlroy.

The former No. 1 -- he could get back to the top spot this week -- is not back to his pre-ankle injury form, but he had a solid week at the BMW Championship and is looking for a few more putts to drop. And there's got to be a good bit of motivation after all the Day, Fowler and Spieth talk of late.

It doesn't hurt that McIlroy's record at East Lake in just two appearances is pretty good: a tie for 10th in 2012 and a tie for second last year.

Kevin Maguire, ESPN.com senior golf editor

Daniel Berger: Since I've used up half the field already this season, the options are slim in the season finale. That being said, one could do worse than selecting one of just four players who started the playoffs outside the top 30 and still made it to East Lake. The Florida State product should have rookie of the year locked up, but a strong finish would be the icing on the cake.

Jason Sobel, ESPN.com senior golf writer

Henrik Stenson: He's won the Tour Championship before. He's won the FedEx Cup before. He's been playing some terrific golf. But since this is our last tourney of the season, I'm picking him based purely on entertainment value. Here's what he said Tuesday (insert sarcasm font): "It shouldn't be too hard to wipe the floor with these guys this week, right? There's no one that's playing great and is sky-high on confidence and no one with a bunch of majors and no one hits it 330 off the tee, so it shouldn't be that hard."

John Ziomek, SportsCenter coordinating producer

Bubba Watson: With Harig being officially declared the winner, I think we should actually dock him points since he managed to do the unthinkable this season. Harig picked Jordan Spieth at a tournament (Deutsche Bank) in which Spieth missed the cut and earned nothing! That's hard to do for a guy who had 14 top-10s and made the cut in 20 of the 24 tournaments he played. Harig should have to pay a penalty fee of $1 million dollars. That would make this Tour Championship interesting. I'll take Bubba Watson this week and hope he's motivated by the $10 million that goes to the Fed Ex Cup winner.

Earlier this year, Chris Morfas commented on the Valspar Championship-picks article and noted that accountability is rare these days. So in an effort at transparency, we will be updating the list below with each week's picks. Good idea, Chris.
