Nik Stauskas apologized Wednesday for his father's comments that he might leave Michigan for the NBA draft after this season.
"He knows all he has to do is keep his nose to the grindstone for another couple of months, and there's a really good possibility he might be able to go pro," Stauskas' father, Paul, told SI.com this week. "He's working really hard to achieve that."
But after Stauskas tied a career-high with 26 points in a win against Iowa, he said his father was speaking out of turn.
"I apologize for my father's comments, he doesn't know what he's talking about," Nik Stauskas said, according to the Detroit Free Press. "I haven't really thought anything about that yet and we'll just address that after the season."
ESPN.com's Chad Ford projects Stauskas as the No. 44 prospect among potential entries for this year's draft.
Stauskas is averaging 18.5 points per game and 3.8 assists for the Wolverines this season but he's shined this week, scoring 23 points on the road against then- No. 3 Wisconsin on Saturday before his big performance against No. 10 Iowa on Wednesday.
