The St. Louis Cardinals announced Thursday that catcher Carson Kelly and right-hander Luke Weaver are the organization's minor league player and pitcher of the year, respectively.
Kelly slashed .289/.343/.395 with 17 doubles, 32 RBIs and 43 runs scored in 96 games between Double-A Springfield and Triple-A Memphis. The 22-year-old appeared in 10 games at the major league level, posting a .154 average in 13 at-bats.
Weaver, 23, went 7-3 with a 1.30 ERA in 13 minor league starts -- 12 with Springfield, one with Memphis -- and struck out 92 batters in 83 innings.
In nine games (eight starts) in the majors this year, Weaver was 1-4 with a 5.70 ERA, striking out 45 batters in 36 1/3 innings.

Kelly as the No. 7 prospect in the Cardinals organization prior to the start of the 2016 season. Weaver was ranked ninth.
