Wily Mo Pena reportedly signs with Indians; last MLB game in 2011

Wily Mo Pena, out of professional baseball in the United States since 2011, has signed a minor league deal with the Indians, FanRag Sports reported Tuesday night.

The deal with the reigning American League champions is worth $700,000 if Pena makes the major league roster.

Now 34, Pena was big on tape-measure blasts but low on average during his eight seasons in the majors, with career totals of 84 home runs, a .250 average and 559 strikeouts in 1,703 at-bats. He spent four years with the Cincinnati Reds -- managing a career-high 26 home runs in 2004 -- before being traded in 2006 to the Boston Red Sox for right-hander Bronson Arroyo.

Pena spent his final four seasons split between the Washington Nationals, Arizona Diamondbacks and Seattle Mariners.

The Dominican Republic native signed a two-year contract with Japan Series' Softbank Hawks in 2011. According to FanRag Sports, Pena played in Japan from 2013 to '15, as well, seeing some action at first base.

Pena played primarily in the outfield while in the majors.
