Royals put Jorge Soler on 10-day DL

The Kansas City Royals placed right fielder Jorge Soler on the 10-day disabled list with a strained oblique Sunday as the team set its 25-man Opening Day roster.

The move is retroactive to March 30.

Soler, acquired from the Chicago Cubs in December for closer Wade Davis, hurt himself on a swing on March 26. An MRI revealed a Grade 1 strain of his oblique.

Soler missed nearly two months last season with a pulled left hamstring. He was sidelined for three weeks in 2015 with a left oblique injury, plus another month with a sprained ankle.

Paulo Orlando, who hit .302 last season, is expected to replace Soler in right field on Monday when the Royals open the season on the road against the Minnesota Twins.
