Twins activate speedy outfielder Byron Buxton off DL

Minnesota Twins center fielder Byron Buxton, who has been out since April 12 with a hairline fracture in his left big toe, was activated from the disabled list and will start Thursday night against the Los Angeles Angels.

Buxton is batting just .195, but his speed in the field and on the bases brought an element of excitement to the lineup.

"I think everyone feels a little void when he's not around," manager Paul Molitor said.

To open a spot on the roster for Buxton, the Twins optioned outfielder Ryan LaMarre to Triple-A Rochester. LaMarre hit .324 in 20 games.
