Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Alex Avila has been reinstated off the injured list and will bat eighth in Saturday's game against the Atlanta Braves, the team announced Saturday.
Avila strained his left quadriceps during his home run trot last month against the Boston Red Sox.
Avila is hitting .333 with two homers and five RBIs in six games.
Infielder Ildemaro Vargas was optioned to the Triple-A Reno.
