ARLINGTON, Texas -- Detroit Tigers rookie center fielder Daz Cameron was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a sprained right big toe, and right-handed starter Spencer Turnbull was transferred to the 60-day injured list.
Cameron was injured when he ran into the wall while tracking fly balls before the start of a three-game series in Texas. The IL move was retroactive to Monday, when he was scratched from the starting lineup before the series opener.
Turnbull, who threw a no-hitter at Seattle on May 18, has been on the IL since after his last start on June 5 because of a strained right forearm.
Manager AJ Hinch said Turnbull (4-2, 2.88 ERA in nine starts) returned from his rehab in Florida and joined the team in Texas to be reevaluated by Rangers team physician Keith Meister on Wednesday.
"In his throwing program, he's taking a step backwards. He's still feeling symptoms; they've reemerged," Hinch said. "So we've got to go back through the battery of tests. ... But it looks like he will have to be shut down for a little bit in his throwing program given the symptoms he's feeling."
Also before the series finale, the Tigers reinstated infielder-outfielder Niko Goodrum from the 10-day IL after he had been sidelined since June 19 with a left finger tendon injury.
Right-handed reliever Bryan Garcia was optioned to Triple-A Toledo, and lefty Ian Krol was called up from the Triple-A team. The Tigers made room on their 40-man roster for Krol with the transfer of Turnbull to the 60-day IL.
