Jose Ramirez was back in the Cleveland Guardians' lineup Tuesday after his first two missed games of the season with a sore right thumb.
Ramirez, batting third and playing third base, went 1-for-5 with a double and run scored in the Guardians' 6-5 win over the Minnesota Twins in 11 innings. Ramirez extended his hitting streak to nine games and leads the AL with 62 RBIs.
The Guardians moved percentage points ahead of the Twins atop the AL Central Division -- their 35-28 (.556) record is narrowly ahead of Minnesota's 38-31 (.551). The teams will square off seven more times by the end of June.
Franmil Reyes also returned to the lineup for the Guardians and hit a game-tying two-run home run in the eighth inning. Reyes, who was activated from the injured list Tuesday, was placed on the IL with a tight right hamstring on May 26.
In other moves Tuesday, the Guardians activated right-hander Aaron Civale from the IL, optioned right-hander Nick Sandlin to Triple-A Columbus and designated outfielder Oscar Mercado for assignment.
Civale, who was placed on the IL on May 25 with left glute tightness, started Tuesday night and got a no-decision after giving up two runs in five innings with seven strikeouts.
