Bryce Harper's offseason checklist: rest and recover from another Silver Slugger campaign, watch some Philadelphia Eagles football ... go viral on TikTok?
TikTok might be banned in the United States by the start of next week, but the Philadelphia Phillies' All-Star first baseman is making the most of what could be the video-sharing app's final days. Prior to a few days ago, Harper had used his account only intermittently -- a video from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, at the end of December, and three videos from months prior using a filter to "blind rank" colleges and build a fictional college.
Now, he has both switched and ramped up the content -- by showing off his skills in the kitchen.
Iced vanilla lattes. Banana bread. Caramel cold brews. All of the above are apparently in Harper's food and drink creation repertoire, as showcased by the step-by-step videos he has posted walking viewers through his process.
Needless to say, viewers have taken to Harper's kitchen videos. His three baking and coffee videos posted in the past week have combined for 5 million total views and counting.
Harper has also had some fun in the comment sections of said videos -- correcting the Phillies team account's request to bring some banana bread to Clearwater (where Philadelphia holds spring training) with a re-spelling of "Clearwooder," referencing the inflection of the regional accent.
When one commenter expressed surprise at seeing a video of Harper making a latte, the two-time NL MVP kept his response brief:
"Same man. Same."
