Shaquille O'Neal missed the Heat's game against the
Seattle SuperSonics on Tuesday night because of a bruised left
knee.
O'Neal also missed Sunday's 107-98 loss at Philadelphia. He was
injured during Friday night's home victory over the New Jersey
Nets when he bumped knees with a New Jersey player.
Heat coach Pat Riley said X-rays and MRI results were negative.
"When he jams on it, he still feels pain," Riley said.
Riley said this entire episode was avoidable.
"If he'd worn his knee pad he wouldn't have done that," Riley said. "That's the one time he didn't wear his knee pad. And when he took the thigh contusion [at the end of the 2004-'05 season] is the one time he didn't wear his thigh pad."
Miami lost two of its first three games, including a 42-point
defeat to Chicago in the season opener.
O'Neal, 34, is in his 15th NBA season. He had a total of 28
points and 14 rebounds in Miami's first two games.
