University of Maryland forward Kevin Huerter, a projected first-round pick in June's NBA draft, underwent surgery to repair torn ligaments in his right hand, league sources told ESPN.
Huerter, a 6-foot-7 sophomore, is expected to miss two months with the injury, sources said.
Huerter is No. 21 in ESPN's draft analyst Jonathan Givony's most recent mock draft. A late-rising prospect on team draft boards, Huerter made a strong impression on teams at the NBA draft combine.
Huerter, 19, averaged 14.8 points for the Terrapins, including 41.7 percent on 3-pointers and 50 percent shooting from the floor.
