OAKLAND, Calif. -- Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry will not play Saturday against the Brooklyn Nets and will likely miss a few more days after having an MRI on Friday morning on his strained left groin.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said the MRI "looked good" but that the organization will be cautious with Curry's recovery after he suffered the injury in Thursday's loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.

"The MRI looked good in terms of not being too serious," Kerr said. "But he's not going to play [Saturday]. It's kind of something we're going to evaluate over the next few days. He's still sore, and it's a strained groin, basically, is the injury. But the MRI was encouraging, so it will be kind of a day-to-day thing. Obviously he won't do anything crazy. He's going to be out until he's healthy and good to go."

Following Kerr's comments, the Warriors released a statement saying Curry has a mild to moderate groin strain.

Curry suffered the injury in the third quarter while trying to contest a play by Bucks guard Eric Bledsoe. He stayed in for a few more moments before heading to the locker room and did not return.

The Warriors were breathing a collective sigh of relief Friday knowing that the injury could have been worse. Warriors backup point guard Quinn Cook will start in Curry's place against the Nets.

"[Curry's] doing fine," Kerr said. "He's a little bummed out, but I think the MRI was basically good news. So this doesn't look like it's going to be a long-term injury. So he's disappointed, but it could have been a lot worse."

The Warriors play a back-to-back on the road against the LA Clippers on Monday and at home against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday that Curry may miss as well.

"It's hard to move laterally when you've got that tweak in your groin," Kerr said, noting that he suffered the same injury during his playing career. "It's not a quad. The movement with the quad is fine. Once you get that tweak on the inside of your thigh and the lateral movement becomes difficult. So we got to get the movement and the strength back in it before he can go out and play."

The Warriors are already playing without veterans Draymond Green (toe sprain) and Shaun Livingston (foot soreness), both of whom have been ruled out of Saturday's game as well. Kerr is confident that both players will be back on the floor soon.

"Draymond is really making improvement," Kerr said, "and Shaun's going to play some three-on-three today. He needs some time on the court. He's feeling a lot better, but he's hardly done anything basketball-wise. We need to get him some live action before we put him into an NBA game."
