Forget about going undefeated, Melbourne United don't know where their next NBL win is coming from after the Sydney Kings hammered the title favourites 103-75 at Qudos Bank Arena.
Melbourne entered the season as championship hotpots with boom recruit Jock Landale declaring they could go through with an unblemished record.
But it's been all downhill since starting with six consecutive wins.
United opened the month-long NBL Cup in Melbourne losing to the Perth Wildcats and finished off losing their last three games to Brisbane, South East Melbourne and Illawarra.
There were no signs of a response in Sydney on Friday night as the regular NBL season resumed, with Melbourne putting in their worst performance of the season as the Kings enjoyed their return home to romp in the 28-point victory.
On the back of beating Brisbane to close the NBL Cup and scoring 71 points in the second half on Saturday, the Kings kept that rolling with another 60 first half points with Melbourne having no answer.
The Kings led 60-39 by half-time before putting on another 27 points in the third period to lead at one stage by 34 against the team still slated as the championship favourites.
Young Sydney centre Jordan Hunter shone in his battle with Landale for 18 points and five rebounds while fellow big man Jarell Martin delivered 15 points.
Hunter is enjoying the way the Kings are putting up big scores as they prepare to host the Cairns Taipans on Sunday.
"It feels good to get a big win, all four quarters and hopefully we can roll it into the Cairns game," he told ESPN.
"We want to be a defence team but now that we keep scoring over 100 maybe we'll forget about that and just worry about being an offensive team."
Didi Louzada also scored 14 points for Sydney, Casper Ware had 13 and rookie of the year fancy DJ Vasiljevic 11.
It was a rough night all round for Melbourne despite 18 points and seven rebounds from Landale.
Mitch McCarron added 17 and Shea Ili 12, but captain Chris Goulding's night summed up his team's fortunes. He finished with two points on 1/8 shooting.
Melbourne have a chance to bounce back in Bendigo on Sunday against Brian Goorjian's Illawarra Hawks.
