Cardinals WR Christian Kirk out vs. Lions with groin injury

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona Cardinals will be without wide receiver Christian Kirk on Sunday against the Detroit Lions because of a lingering groin injury.

Kirk suffered the injury in last Sunday's win over the Washington Football Team. At the time, coach Kliff Kingsbury said Kirk had "a little tightness," but Kirk missed all three days of practice this week. Kingsbury hopes Kirk's injury will be week to week instead of long-term.

In two games, Kirk has had three catches for 57 yards.

This is the third straight season that Kirk will miss at least a game due to injury. He had a broken foot in 2018 and an ankle injury in 2019.

The Cardinals will also be without center Mason Cole for the second straight game because of a hamstring injury.

Defensive tackle Jordan Phillips, who had a sack last week against Washington, was listed as questionable because of an ankle issue, and cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick was added to the injury list on Friday with a neck injury. He's listed as questionable. With Kirk out, Kingsbury expects receivers Andy Isabella and KeeSean Johnson to have larger roles this weekend.

"I think both guys will see more time and have a chance to kind of show how they've developed and what we've seen in camp and hopefully that translates in the field," Kingsbury said. "But they'll definitely be in the mix."
