SYDNEY -- Former Australian track star Cathy Freeman has been reunited with the bodysuit she wore when she lit the cauldron at the 2000 Sydney Olympics opening ceremony.
The suit went missing after Freeman, who later won the 400 meters in the same stadium, left it in the stadium dressing room 15 years ago.
It was anonymously mailed into the Melbourne Cricket Ground sports museum in December, but officials have since been trying to confirm its authenticity.
Freeman, who retired from track and field in 2003, revealed the good news Friday.
"Finally been reunited with my authenticated Sydney2000 opening ceremony suit!" Freeman tweeted. "Thanks to all involved in returning it!"
